## Key Platform Facts & Rules

- **Character Limits & GSM Encoding**: 1 standard SMS = up to **160 GSM 7-bit characters** (1 credit per recipient). Multi-part messages (161 to 1,000 characters max) split into **153-character segments** (up to 7 parts). Extended GSM characters (`^`, `{`, `}`, `\`, `[`, `~`, `]`, `|`, `€`, and newline) count as **2 characters** each. The web composer automatically transliterates Greek lowercase/accented text into 7-bit GSM uppercase so Greek messages enjoy the full 160-character limit.
- **Recipients & Bulk Sending**: Send up to **500 mobile numbers** directly in the `To Mobile Numbers` field, or select **Contact Groups** for **unlimited** recipients. Rayo SMS automatically deduplicates recipients across groups, blocks identical SMS text to the same number within a **6-hour window**, and suppresses contacts flagged as **Invalid** (`Invalid? = Yes`).
- **Sender Identifiers (Sender IDs)**: Supports **Alphanumeric Labels** (up to 11 characters: `A-Z`, `a-z`, `0-9`, space, `-`, `_`, `.`; confirmed immediately) and **Mobile Telephone Numbers** (10–15 digits; requires 5-digit SMS verification within 15 minutes; max 1 pending mobile confirmation at a time). Used Sender IDs cannot be deleted (to preserve audit logs) but can be deactivated.
- **Account Verification & Credits**: Sending live SMS requires confirmed **Company Details**, an active & confirmed **Sender ID**, and a positive prepaid credit balance. Credits are valid for **1 year (365 days)** from purchase and can be ordered via **Online Purchase with Card** (Stripe, instant, processor fee applies), **Bank Deposit** (zero fee), or **Purchase With Credit** (instant allocation settled via bank deposit for eligible accounts).
- **Free Sandbox / Simulation Mode**: Test via UI (`Simulation (Message Will not Be Sent Out)`) or REST API (`simulateSendFlag: true` on `POST /v1/send_sms`) with **0 credit cost**.
- **GDPR Message Masking**: Permanently and irreversibly overwrites completed `sms_body` text with 60 asterisks (`************************************************************`) on demand, immediately upon completion, or after a configurable delay (`1` to `129,600` minutes / 90 days) while preserving delivery audit metadata.
- **REST API & Webhooks**: Authenticate with `Authorization: <API_KEY>` over HTTPS (`POST /v1/send_sms`, `GET /v1/balance_in_credits`, `GET /v1/check_status`, `DELETE /v1/sms_request_schedules/:id`). Up to **25 API keys** per account. Real-time delivery callbacks (`GET` or `POST`) include an HMAC signature in `RAYO-SMS-Signature` with zero-downtime signing secret rotation.
